WordPress people call me Jtrip (thanks Matt & Jen), but everyone else calls me John.
On the web, I’m a 15-year veteran WordPress core contributor. I’ve worked at some companies you’ve probably heard of, and others you probably haven’t. I’ve had a lot of fun so far, and it’s all because of WordPress.
I have code running on WordPress.org, in Jetpack, on WordPress.com VIP, and millions of other websites all over the world.
I help lead BuddyPress & bbPress, and I’ve authored (and contributed to) a few dozen GPL licensed WordPress plugins. Cumulatively, they’ve been downloaded over 50 million times and code I’ve written is installed (and running pretty well) on over 100 million websites worldwide.
From April of 2017 to 2019, I was an elected trustee for the village of East Troy, WI, and the chairman for our municipal Airport Advisory board.
I started contributing to open-source software projects in 1999 and everything’s been really great ever since.
Let’s Connect
I always want to talk about WordPress stuff, video games, board games, home automation, local politics, puppies, and open source software.
